The Health and Pleasure Benefits of Prostate Massage

What Walnut? The prostate gland has often been referred to as a small walnut sized/shaped gland. According to WebMD, in an article that describes the gland, it is a “small, walnut-shaped organ that lies just below a man's bladder.”1 In detail WebMD also gives a roadmap and refer to it as “walnut-sized,” “The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located between the bladder and the penis. The prostate is just in front of the rectum. The urethra runs through the center of the prostate, from the bladder to the penis, letting urine flow out of the body.”2 Now that we know what the walnut being referred to is, it is now time to know the importance of milking the walnut.
The Walnut That Needs Milking The benefits of prostate massage or milking the walnut can be had for both individuals who have an ailing prostate or those who just want to be healthier. Inadvertently, doctors perform this massage all the time in doing a procedure called a DRE or a Digital Rectal Exam. In the course of poking the prostate they are somehow doing a massage as it is the only way to check something that cannot be seen. WebMD details the process as “Your health care provider will insert a gloved finger into the rectum and feel the prostate for hard, lumpy, or abnormal areas. The test takes only a few minutes to complete.””3 The doctor in fact then is milking the walnut, although this massage, since it is only unintentional, results can be effective or be nothing at all. It is a different matter though when it comes to Prostatitis. As an alternative form of treatment that may or may not be in conjunction with other treatments, doctors recommend Prostatic Massage because it is thought to remove blockages in the gland.
WebMD states that “Prostatic massage for prostatitis ("milking" of the prostate by a doctor) is an old treatment that many doctors are beginning to use again because medicines do not always successfully cure prostatitis.”4 As an alternative view, traditional Chinese medicine has used prostate massage in treating prostate ailments in combination with acupuncture and herbal medication which is based on a principle that “Obstructing causes pain, unblocking makes pain disappear..."5 It has been found out that “Digital rectal massage can drain a little bit of the prostatic fluid, temporarily releasing fluid pressure and relieving the symptoms.”5 It is suggested that prostate stimulation can be done by rubbing the area at the rear of the scrotum with soft implement or by hand. It is also believed that “your prostate swells because of two main imbalances: low kidney energy and stagnant blood flow.”6 It is also important to note that “Both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine—when combined with the dietary suggestions above, stress reduction, and regular exercise—can reduce prostate swelling and relieve symptoms.”6 Anecdotal evidence, which is available on many sources, also indicates that there is an orgasmic effect that is associated with the milking of the prostate. It has also coined the term male G-spot. Ejaculation is often a resulting action and it has been known to be a rather more intense feeling than the usual climax. Prostate massage or milking the walnut has, since the discovery of the benefits and the pleasures of it, become very commonplace. It has also led to an explosion of new sex toys for the male segment of the market.
Milking the Walnut As previously stated, stimulation of the prostate can involve digitally massaging the prostate by means of working the area behind the scrotum or going in through the anus to directly massage the gland with your finger but before you do go about doing any milking, it is important to know a few things.
Hygiene and Safety Clean hands and trimmed fingernails are first on the list. Even if you are going to use gloves having clean hands is just a step one does not forget. Trimming the fingernails and making sure they have smooth edges also prevents injury. While the walls down there are not really that delicate, it pays to be mindful that sharp objects inserted down there can be dangerous.
Make It Slick Lube is nothing new and to fully appreciate the penetration and the massage, especially if you are a beginner, you need to get it all slick in there and lube up the penetrator as well. Various lubes perform differently so you can just choose one that you prefer. Check out our lubricant guide to see which lube we recommend.
Patience and Time It is not an experience that all will enjoy and while some will, some just won’t. Perhaps it may be the intrusion of an object or the digits themselves but it is a true turn off for some. While that may be so, a clear boom in the adoption of prostate massage is seen and it also reflects on the explosion in male sex toy sales that offer prostate stimulation. Many seem to be getting past the penetration thing and both straight and gay practitioners are enjoying themselves - alone or with their partner/s.
Manual or Device Stimulation It is perfectly OK to do the stimulation manually or digitally as it is more commonly referred to - that is with fingers. A partner can even do this for you, if you are both OK with it. On the other side of the coin, you can also use a plethora of male specific sex toys designed to do this task. Some use human power, some are battery powered and some even plug-in to the mains.
Experience and Enjoy It may not happen instantly but as your experience grows the level of enjoyment grows along with it. Besides the pleasure is certainly second only to the health benefits, a bonus if you will but come to think of it can also be the other way around. Experience it the way you want it and enjoy. Keep your boner in good working order by milking the walnut.
