5 Ways You Can Hurt Your Penis
Share
Sex is, in fact, a risky activity, not only because of STDs but also because of the ways this vigorous and intense exercise can hurt your body. When we talk about hot, wild, steamy man-on-man sex, we think about our hairy, manly bodies rubbing each other; we think about the sweat, the heat, the flavor, the passion. We rarely think about how that intensity can harm our bodies. I'm not talking about pulling a muscle; I'm talking about painful genital injuries.
Yeah, we know we can harm our assholes if we have vigorous sex or get carried on and overestimating our anal prowess; we're bound to get an anal tear or worse. But bottom and vers guys are not the only ones who can get hurt like that during sex; tops can get severe injuries in their penises and groin areas too. So, no one's safe from the living nightmare of hurting or most precious and sensitive body parts.
Here we give you the top five on surprisingly common penis injuries that doctors treat almost daily in emergency rooms. Brace yourself:
5) Stuck cock rings
Tons of ER visits are because of DIY sex toys. You have no idea how many men walk into the ER to get something removed from their assholes. A friend of mine, a doctor, once told me about a guy who had two deodorant spray cans stuck in his rectum.
Desperate bottoms are not the only ones who get in trouble for using "anything" as a sex toy. So, don't go sticking your penis into "holes" just to please yourself, or you might get stuck.
There are tons of men who walk into the ER with their bits stuck in DIY cock rings. Usually, scissors do the trick to remove them, but the procedure depends on the "cock ring" material and how swollen your dick is.
Jesse N. Mills, MD, an associate clinical professor of urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, tells the story of a guy who put an industrial-sized hex nut around the base of his penis and fell asleep with it on. He woke up with a swollen erection and an increasingly injured penis. Long story short, they had to use an electric saw to remove it and save his penis.
So, if you don't want a chainsaw close to your dick, don't stick it in anything not made for a penis. Also, don't fall asleep with anything around your penis. EVER!
4) Testicular torsion
Picture this: Your guy is riding your dick, sitting on your lap; you hold his hips and start thrusting at him, going hard at him; he's moaning so loud, your balls are flopping around; it's so hot! But, suddenly, a penetrating pain strikes, and your nut feels like it's going to be torn from your body. That's a testicle torsion.
This happens when the spermatic cord attached to the testicle gets twisted, cuts off the blood flow to the testicle, and causes pain. There's no medical reason for it to happen; sometimes, it can't be avoided, and it can occur in different situations: running, biking, sitting, fucking, or even sleeping. It just takes a random and spontaneous movement.
This injury is not strange at all, but it's painful, and it can be potentially dangerous. According to Michael P. Zahalsky, founder of Z Urology in Coral Springs, Florida, "To pick the apple, you need to twist the stem until the apple comes off. That can happen with testicular torsion - it's twisted until the testicle dies.”
Since it's such a common thing to happen, in most cases, it can be fixed by gently pulling your ball down, but if it's too painful, you'll need to see a doctor.
If you're a fan of Justin Bieber (and his big balls), you'll know that this happened to him a couple years ago while playing soccer, and he ended up in the ER. It can happen to anyone at any given moment, so if it happens to you, don't panic; just get it fixed as soon as possible.
3) Priapism
You know how Greek statues have such hot bodies but small flaccid dicks, right? So, if you've seen an ancient Greek sculpture of a man with a massive erect penis, then it's Priapus, a Greek god known for his insatiable sex drive.
Priapism is the name of a condition in which an erection cannot go down and lasts for hours and hours. This might sound like a blessing and a chance to have non-stop sex, but it's actually quite dangerous.
If an erection lasts more than 10 hours, you can suffer permanent damage. The erectile tissue of your penis can become scarred and affect your ability to get and hold an erection.
Priapism can be caused by taking the wrong dose of Viagra or Cialis. Still, it can also happen as a side effect of medication for anxiety and depression, such as Trazodone.
This condition is much more common than you would think. In some cases, you'll just need to masturbate to deal with it. In other cases, an injection of a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels will do it. In most severe cases, they'll need to use a syringe to drain your penis and let the blood flow.
If an erection doesn't go down after four hours, it is time to see a doctor, don't wait any longer.
2) Charley horse in the groin
If you think having a Charley horse in your calf when you're in the middle of your workout is the worst thing that can happen, then imagine how it'd be to have it in your groin.
A Charley horse is how many people refer to a muscle spasm or cramp. It can occur in any muscle in the body, including your groin area. Having a Charley horse means the muscle in question will contract without control and will not relax.
When you're in a new relationship, all you might think about is banging him all day, all night, and that's totally okay, totally normal, and totally hot. But keep in mind that hip-to-hip action can cause swelling as much as getting punched.
A Charley horse can manifest as a large lump in your groin, close to the side of the base of your penis. If this is your case, go straight to the doctor and get it checked. In most cases, it'll require you to abstain from sex for around three days for the swelling to go down, and you'll be back to normal.
You must go to the hospital and get a professional opinion. Doctors recommend getting checked anytime something is off, whether you have a lump or a bulge, pain or discomfort, swelling or discoloration. It can save your penis and your life.
1) Getting a Penis Fracture
Even if every guy's worst fear is breaking his penis during sex, you can't technically break it because there's no bone in it to fail. Still, you can indeed fracture the erectile tissue. This is actually the most common penis-related injury doctors treat in the ER.
According to Dr. Mills: A penis fracture is when a man tears the tough outer lining of his penis during sex.
For gay men, this usually happens with doggy style. If you're bi (or heteroflexible) and like having sex with women (we don't judge), this can occur when the female is on top. If your erect penis bangs to the pubic bone of your partner, then there's a great chance it'll fracture.
So, what happens when a penis fractures? Doctor Mills says, "There are three chambers in a penis - the two erectile bodies and the urethra (urinary channel)... most fractures are mild with a small tear in one of the chambers that requires a few stitches to close the defect and get the man back to normal in a few weeks."
There are more severe cases in which a man can break the urethra along with the fractured cavernous chamber that makes your penis hard. You can even break the three sections and leave the penis attached to your body by its skin (I know, ouch!)
Doctors say that this kind of injury usually happens when you or your partner (or both of you) are drunk. Disinhibited, liquor-induced passion is a huge factor for being careless and, honestly, clumsier, which can lead to an injury of this kind. So, whiskey dick is not the only thing to worry about when you want to have drunk sex.
In most cases, after recovering from a Penis Fracture, men can go back to having sex without a problem. However, according to a study published by the Brazilian Society of Urology, in severe cases of Penis Fracture, there are complications such as sexual dysfunction.
So, as a moral of the story: vigorous sex is okay; just avoid combining it with alcohol, and your peepee should be fine.
Don't get your penis hurt.
Having sex is a physical activity. It can harm your body like any other physical activity if you don't practice it with caution. In the same way you can twist an ankle playing basketball, you can twist a testicle having sex. Sometimes, an injury can't be avoided since it not only depends on you but being careful never hurts anybody.
If you want to have hot, wild, acrobatic sex as you see in porn, then keep in mind that you can get hurt; it's possible, but you need to be careful. Warm-up a little before going hard to it, consider the angle at which your penis will be entering, and keep in mind that he's not as flexible as you might think.
Bottom line: It's okay if you like rough sex; just don't be too harsh with yourself!
