We're starting off the list with a nice, basic plug that's good for beginners thanks to the elongated, tapered tip while still having a satisfyingly robust neck that's thick enough to satisfy veterans once it's placed.
This is a great "no-bells-and-whistles" plug and it's perfect for newbies who are just getting used to the sensations of anal play. It is also a great plug for more experienced guys who are looking for a nice, wearable "warmup" plug to keep the door open for larger insertions later on.

Now we are getting into something with a little more razzle-dazzle! The head of the plug, for me, has just enough flare without being too intrusive and it stretches the anus just enough before giving way to the spiraled neck. I really like the spiral design because it allows me to sort of "screw" the plug inward, which both eases insertion and provides a little extra zing for my ring in the process.
I also like the maneuverability and control the ring at the base offers. Some plugs have little features built-in that are hard to actually use because they just have a basic flared base that's hard to grip with lubed-up hands. When you're talking about butt plugs, there are two main sensations you are looking for. One is the "stretch", the other a feeling of "fullness". While still more than capable of providing enough "stretch", this plug really shines thanks to it's weighty, bulbous head. I like the way this plug really fills me out and I love the way it feels bouncing around inside as I move. That's why I like this plug for when I am playing with friends. The more you move the more it grooves! If you're a beginner, the extra flare might make insertion a bit rough, but it makes an excellent step up in your anal training if you are outgrowing your smaller plugs.

This is a somewhat strange design at first glance, but this plug is all about how you use it! Specifically, this is a great toy for stimulating your anus. The beaded, wavy design of the skinnier part of the plug offers some great sensations as you slide it in and out without stretching too much and the bulbous end makes a great handle to help you maintain control. On the flip side of the coin, you can get all the stretch you want by inserting the thick, bulbous end. This is a great, hands-on warmup plug to get things started off with a bang. I like this plug for solo-play and fun with friends equally because it's super-versatile like that.
This is a sort of jack-of-all-trades plug that can do it all, apart from the fact that it lacks "wearability" because it is something between a dildo and a plug. If general wearability is what you're looking for, the next plug on the list is probably more your style.

Depending on your criteria, this is one of the most wearable plugs out there. What do I mean by wearable? Well, some guys, myself included, like to keep a plug in for extended periods of time. Some guys even keep a plug in almost all the time!
While I don't go that far myself, I do like to pop one in ahead of a hook-up or when I'm expecting backdoor visitors later on. It's a great way to keep things loose so you can just jump right into the fun when the time comes.

If you like a plug with big stretch energy, this is the one for you! This bastard has a pretty bulbous head that really fills you up, but the real star of the show is the thick neck. This is a great plug across the board if stretch is your thing because it is fairly thick from tip to neck.
The light flare on the base makes it fairly wearable for guys who don't mind a plug that lets you know it's there. It's a great plug for loosening up before you hook-up with a well-hung guy, too. Not a great plug for beginners, but an excellent choice for guys who like to feel the plug fully. It's not shy about reminding you it's in there!
4- Gläs's 4-Inch Male Butt Plug
This is another extremely versatile plug that's excellent for beginner's while still being an old-favorite of the veteran anal players among us. I like this toy because it has a bit of everything without going overboard. I used a plug much like this early on in my anal training and I found that the varied sizes of the flared beads at the top were excellent for getting myself warmed up and lightly stretched before going all the way down to the much wider final bulb. Ultimately, it came down to the extra weight and diminished taper between the bulb and neck of the Galileo, for me, but your criteria may differ. It's a beautiful plug with stunning color and incredibly pleasurable design. This baby right here is my all-time favorite glass plug, hands down! First of all, it looks amazing and I am a sucker for aesthetics. Secondly, it hits all my favorite high marks for a good "action plug".
What do I mean by "action plug"? Basically, I just mean a plug that's better for when you are actually engaged in sexual activity, as opposed to just general wearability. The Galileo is weighty, thick from tip to neck, and offers little variation between the thickest part of the bulb and the neck itself. Useful Butt Plug Accessories
There are many useful accessories that play well with butt plugs. For me, a lube shooter is an essential addition to any anal arsenal.
