When it comes to anal sex, lube is essential...
Anyone who's ever hit a dry patch on their favorite dildo or had their lube quit on them mid-bang knows what I'm talking about here. That's why picking out the right lube for the is so damn important.
A good anal lube will have superb glide, won't dry out before you're done and, ideally, will have a little something extra to help you along. Another trait to look for in an anal lube is whether or not it can be returned to a functional state of slickness by remoistening it- It's a helluva lot more convenient and, dare I say downright sexy, to just give'er a little spit and keep going instead of fumbling for the lube bottle in the middle of the action.
So, with those criteria in mind, here are our ten best anal lubes and why they are so great!
We're kicking off the list with a lube that's probably pretty familiar to most of you because it is one of the few decent lubes out there that is available in pharmacies and even grocery stores. It's a silicone lube so it brings some serious slickness to the table and it is a little more affordable than some of the more specialty lubes on this list.
If you are looking for a perfectly serviceable, not exactly mind-blowing lube that gets the job done and stays in the game as long as you do, this is a pretty solid choice.
This is one of the very few water-based lubes on this list. The reason you don't see a lot of water-based lubes in a list of great lubes for anal is because they tend to absorb quickly into your anal lining and leave you dry before the action is finished. They're great for jerking off with your Fleshlight, giving handjobs, or just about anything else, but anal, not so much.
What sets this water-based lube apart is the fact that it starts off insanely slick, manages to stay that way for longer than you'd expect from a water-based lube, but can be reactivated with just a bit of spit. There are few lubes that come back to life quite as effectively as this one. Apparently, Sliquid found a loophole in the "water-based is bad for anal" rule.
This is a great lube for guys who need the versatility of a water-based lube but aren't willing to give up some of the superior qualities of other bases.
Another way you can get around the "no water-based lube for anal" rule of thumb is to simply mix that shit with another base. You end up getting the best of both worlds, in most cases- This is one of those cases.
While you will still have to keep this lube away from your silicone toys, it is safe for use with condoms and toys made of other materials. So, you get a bit of versatility there. You also get all of the famous glide and long-lasting staying-power that makes Gun Oil one of the greats!
This is an interesting lube that uses heating action to warm and relax your anal muscles to ease discomfort. While it lacks some of the fancier ingredients like jojoba oil that some of the more high-end anal relaxers use, it also lacks the numbing agents that some of the lower-end ones use. Which is to say, this is not a numbing lube but a relaxer.
Some guys say that the warming action is a little more intense than other warming lubes. So, if you're a bit wary of that sort of thing but want a good relaxer, you might want to check out one of our later entries from Pjur. If you're looking for a nice heating lube that is strong enough to relax your downstairs biz for some hard anal, you could definitely do worse than this!
We mentioned fancier ingredients for anal relaxation in our previous entry and this lube is one of those that uses them. Jojoba oil is an incredible ingredient that naturally relaxes anal muscles without resorting to numbing agents- It just sort of loosens you up. On top of that, it helps moisturize anal tissues to help them stay elastic. This means you can take and bounce back from a harder pounding than you could using a lube that lacks those ingredients.
This lube is a more economical version of a famous formula from Pjur that contains Jojoba. It lacks some of the attention to detail you get from Pjur's formulation- it's not quite as slick and its texture isn't quite as light- but it still does the job of relaxing your funhole and is a completely serviceable lube, slip-wise.
Ya know how we've been mentioning Pjur through the last few entries? Well, here we are! This is Pjur's water-based anal lube formula that uses Jojoba oil as the active relaxation ingredient. As we previously mentioned, Jojoba is great for anal elasticity and tissue moisture.
This lube has an extremely satisfying, lighter texture and the Jojoba really packs a punch. It is water-based so you'll probably have to reapply, but it's not as bad as you would normally expect from a water-based lube.
This lube doesn't have any fancy ingredients to help you loosen up or warm your bits, but it does have outrageous staying-power and superb glide. This is a popular formula for fisting enthusiasts- So, if you're planning anything tamer than that, you better believe this lube will do the trick.
If you're looking for an outrageously slick lube that just keeps going and is great for large insertions or fisting, this is an old favorite of anal pros the world over!
This is another great lube for some of the more adventurous anal games out there. It has a rich, buttery texture that somehow manages to be deceptively light once applied. Another amazing feature of this lube is that it is non-staining, which is very rare for an oil-based lube.
The major drawback of the oil-base, however, is that this lube isn't condom-compatible and won't play with latex toys. On the plus side, all of the best toys are made from silicone anyway and they'll have no problem getting along with this lube.
If you're looking for an incredible anal lube and aren't worried about going raw-dog, this is one of the greats!
While the water-based version of this lube covered in entry 5 is excellent if you are using any silicone toys, this lube is much better for just straight-up anal fuckin'. The silicone formula lasts a lot longer than any water-based lube ever could and it has all of the marks of quality you'd expect from a Pjur lube.
It contains Jojoba and relaxes without resorting to harsher numbing agents like b@enzocaine or lid@ocaine. That means you can have safe backdoor relief without losing all the sensation that makes anal great, to begin with. This is easily the best relaxing anal lube out there.
While Pjur might make the best relaxing anal lube out there, the best anal in general would have to be this formula from Tom's of Finland. these cats have been making anal lube since before a lot of us were alive and their formula has never been better.
The major clue that this is an excellent anal lube is right there in the name, "Fisting Creme". This is a go-to lube for serious extreme anal adventurers because it has an amazing, creamy texture, outrageous staying power, and unparalleled slide.
It costs a bit more than some of the other lubes on this list, but it also delivers on its promise of a smooth ride better than any of those lubes, as well. If you're looking for a serious anal lube that will stand up to just about anything, there's only one way to go!
